The camera was off. The microphone was muted. On the other end, someone was talking about deadlines and spreadsheets—and I was trying to follow along, trying to pretend everything was normal.It wasn't.All it took was one untimely thought. That kind of thought that arrives unannounced, in the middle of the afternoon, when nobody's looking. And then there was no going back.Working from home is like that. The house is empty, the door is closed, the whole world outside has no idea what's happening inside. Nobody sees. Nobody hears. It's just you and that unbidden desire.The meeting ended. I don't remember anything that was said.But I remember every second after that.And there was still half the workday left.
